Course of a Session
In order to respond to the patient's concerns and define a treatment strategy, the practitioner establishes a diagnosis using the "Four Examinations" of Chinese medicine: inspection, inquiry, listening and smelling, and palpation.
On the basis of the information gathered, the practitioner establishes a diagnosis and a treatment principle according to the pattern differentiation of Chinese medicine (bian zheng lun zhi). He then proposes a treatment through sessions of acupuncture, therapeutic massage or osteoarticular adjustment (tuina), or through the prescription of medicinal herbs — using the method best suited to the patient's condition.
