Subfever state for the past 6 weeks

Woman, 55 years old. Menopausal.

 

July 2019: Subfebrile state for 6 weeks. Fever varies throughout the day with peaks of 38°C, mostly in the middle of the day.

 

There is a sensation of heat in the head and behind the eyes, shortness of breath, and hot flashes with sweating day and night (more intense at night). Sleep is disturbed with difficulty falling asleep and frequent awakenings (up to 15 times a night). There is sensitivity to cold, cold hands and feet, significant fatigue, and a thirst for warm or hot drinks. The patient has been menopausal for four years.

The pulse is deep (chen) and weak (wuli), somewhat stagnant (zhi) on the right.

The tongue is slightly pale, and its tip is red. The tongue coating is white, slightly greasy in the center, with cracks.

On palpation, the abdomen is soft, hollow and slightly cold below the navel.

 

This is a situation of Yang escape, with dampness in the center and a deficiency of Chong Mai and Ren Mai.

 

Treatment principle:

Bring the Yang back to its root, transform the dampness of the center and support Chong Mai and Ren Mai.

 

Prescriptions are based on Qian Yang Dan :

Fu Zi 45g, Sha Ren 15g, Zhi Gan Cao 10g, Gan Jiang 15g, Bai Zhu 15g, Dang Gui 15g, Huang Bai 6g, Tu Si Zi 15g, Yin Yang Huo 15g, Du Zhong 15g, Bu Gu Zhi 15g.

5 sachets. 1 sachet per day, 3 doses per day. Cook in a pressure cooker.

 

Results :

After five days of taking the medication, there was no more fever or sensation of heat in the head and eyes. Sleep returned to normal. Hot flashes and fatigue significantly decreased. Two months later, there was no relapse.
